Starting the Hand: The Blinds and the Deal

A game of Texas Hold’em requires a standard 52-card deck, a dealer button, and chips for betting.

The action starts with the player sitting directly to the left of the Big Blind (a position known as “Under the Gun”).

This triggers the “Showdown.” The remaining players must flip their hole cards face up on the table for the dealer and everyone else to see.

Once the dealer pushes the pot to the winner, the Dealer Button moves one seat to the left, the players post new blinds, and a brand new hand begins instantly.
